Guinness Ghana PLC has taken a bold swing into Ghana’s sports and luxury lifestyle space with the launch of the Johnnie Walker Ghana Annual Golf Tournament, a first-of-its-kind premium golf championship designed to merge high-end branding with elite sportsmanship.
Hosted at the prestigious Achimota Golf Club, the exclusive two-day event scheduled for May 30th and 31st will welcome an invite-only guest list of Ghana’s most influential personalities for an opulent experience under the theme “Luxury Meets Golf.”
Positioned as more than a tournament, the initiative marks Johnnie Walker’s full ownership of a golfing platform in Ghana after years of collaborations. Estella Muzito, Marketing and Communications Director at Guinness Ghana, noted that the championship was the brand’s natural next step, citing golfers as the brand’s largest consumer base globally.
“Our biggest consumers are golfers. While we’ve supported golf events in the past, this moment was always on the horizon — a bespoke Johnnie Walker experience,” Muzito stated.
The launch event featured influential figures such as retired Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng, long-time Johnnie Walker brand icon and founder of the defunct UT Bank; Mr. Frank Adu Jr., President of the Achimota Golf Club; and Leonard Kweku Okyere, President of the Ghana Golf Association.
Captain Amoabeng, who has embodied the Johnnie Walker ethos of “Keep Walking” in Ghana, underscored the harmony between golf and the brand’s values: “The pursuit of excellence, precision, and class — both golf and Johnnie Walker are built on these same ideals.”
The Johnnie Walker Ghana Annual Golf Tournament is set to redefine luxury sporting events in the country. With its blend of legacy, exclusivity, and world-class competition, it stands as a testament to Guinness Ghana’s ongoing investment in culture, sport, and premium lifestyle experiences.
