The Paramount chief Kingmakers of the Dorfor Traditional Area in the Volta are urgently calling on the Volta Regional House of Chiefs (RHC) to expedite the resolution of a chieftaincy dispute that has dragged on for over a decade.
According to the Paramount Kingmakers, the case, which was formally brought before the Regional House in 2015 has seen little to no progress.
The prolonged absence of a recognized Paramount Chief has left the Dorfor Traditional Area in a state of uncertainty, stalling development and weakening leadership structures for its population of over 30,000 people.
The Paramount Kingmakers have reaffirmed their unanimous support for Togbega Anati Kodey IV as the rightful Paramount Chief.
They asserted that he possesses the experience, vision, and leadership qualities needed to restore unity and drive meaningful development across the more than 300 communities within the traditional area.
“The inability to formally outdoor the Paramount Chief has severely impacted our cultural practices, especially the paying of homage, and has left the area without direction,” the Paramount Kingmakers indicated.
They further disclosed that all the Divisional Chiefs within the traditional area have sworn oaths of allegiance to Togbega Anati Kodey IV, with only his official outdoor ceremony pending.
However, the ongoing leadership vacuum has created an environment of instability.
The Kingmakers lamented that, in the absence of a Paramount Chief, some individuals are taking advantage of the situation, leading to rising cases of land disputes, property destruction, and unlawful use of community resources.
“We are appealing to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs to take urgent action. The continued delay is affecting peace and development. The people of Dorfor deserve stable and effective leadership,” the emphasized in a statement.
The Kingmakers remain hopeful that with swift intervention and justice from the Regional House, the Dorfor Traditional Area can return to peace and prosperity under the rightful leadership of Togbega Anati Kodey IV.
