He has urged the police administration to sustain the momentum and intensify efforts to protect lives and property, while assuring officers of continued government support to strengthen their operational capacity.
Speaking at the commissioning of an 85-bed ward complex at the Police Hospital in Accra on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, President Mahama commended the police leadership and personnel for their contribution to the country’s security.
“This police administration is doing a yeoman’s job and as Commander-in-Chief and president of the Republic, I want to express the gratitude of our nation to all of you and urge you to keep up the good work,” he said.
The President said the government recognised the importance of providing the security services with the logistical resources required to carry out their duties effectively.
He assured the police of continued support, stressing that adequate equipment and operational resources were necessary to sustain efforts to combat crime and maintain public confidence in law enforcement.
“It is no wonder everybody wants to visit Ghana, because people say it is the safest country in the whole of West Africa and I can assure you that we will continue to provide you with the logistics that you need to continue to do your job,” he added.
President Mahama’s remarks place renewed emphasis on public safety and the government’s commitment to supporting the police in tackling criminal activities, including murder and highway robbery.
The commissioning of the new ward complex also highlights investment in healthcare infrastructure for police personnel and other patients who rely on the Police Hospital for medical services.
The President’s commendation comes as the police service continues to face expectations to strengthen crime prevention, improve investigations and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.
