The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has signaled a renewed commitment to safeguarding state resources, warning that loan beneficiaries who fail to repay their debts risk facing public exposure and legal action.
In a notice issued this week, the Centre underscored that its funds are public resources earmarked to stimulate small business growth and must not be treated as “free money.”
“Abuse or neglect of repayment obligations undermines this national effort and will be met with firm corrective measures,” management cautioned.
MASLOC has set September 30, 2025, as the final deadline for defaulters to settle their obligations. Beyond that date, names of individuals, groups, and institutions in arrears will be published in newspapers, and announced on radio and television. Legal recovery proceedings and restrictions on future financial assistance will also be enforced.
According to management, the strong stance reflects not only a bid to recover outstanding loans but also to reinforce public trust in state-backed financing schemes. The Centre stressed that accountability remains central to ensuring such initiatives continue to empower entrepreneurs across Ghana.
