Event to Celebrate Legacy of Faith, Discipline, and Academic Impact
The Methodist High School (MEHISCO) in Saltpond is set to begin a year-long celebration of its 45th anniversary with an official launch in Accra on Wednesday, November 26, at the Wesley Towers of the Methodist Church Ghana.
Unlike previous anniversaries held solely in Saltpond, this year’s launch in the capital is designed to rally national attention and highlight MEHISCO’s contribution to Ghana’s education and moral development over the past four and a half decades.
The event, jointly organised by the Methodist High Old Students’ Association (MEHOSA), the school’s management, and the Methodist Church Ghana, will feature the Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, as Special Guest of Honour.
Celebrating a Methodist Legacy
Dr. Justice Eddie Quainoo, President of MEHOSA and Chair of the 45th Anniversary Planning Committee, said the launch marks “the beginning of a reflective journey celebrating MEHISCO’s legacy of faith-driven education and its commitment to shaping disciplined, purpose-oriented citizens.”
The anniversary is themed:
“45 Years of Holistic Education and Methodist Heritage: Celebrating Legacies, Embracing the Future.”
He said the theme captures the dual mission of honouring the school’s Methodist heritage while preparing for the challenges of modern education.
A Year of Reflection and Renewal
The launch will kick off a series of activities running through 2026, culminating in a grand celebration at Saltpond. The programme will feature keynote addresses, performances by the school’s band, choir, and cultural troupe, and the unveiling of commemorative memorabilia and a legacy project.
The anniversary also aims to mobilise alumni and stakeholders to contribute to new developmental initiatives that will enhance academic and infrastructural standards at the school.
A Legacy of Impact
Founded in 1981 by the Methodist Church Ghana, MEHISCO has produced thousands of graduates who have excelled across professions in Ghana and abroad. The school is renowned for blending academic excellence with spiritual and moral formation, guided by the values of integrity, service, and the fear of God.
“All alumni, parents, and well-wishers are warmly invited to join us in celebrating 45 years of faith, discipline, and transformation,” the statement concluded.
