In a historic milestone, Isaac Okpoti Adjei has been named General Manager of the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra—becoming the first Ghanaian to hold the position since the hotel’s grand reopening in 2011.
The appointment of Adjei, a seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of experience, signals a bold commitment by Accor Group to champion local leadership at one of its flagship properties in West Africa.
Strategically situated in the heart of Accra’s central business district, Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel is more than a luxury retreat—it’s a cultural landmark. With 260 contemporary rooms, the city’s largest lagoon-style pool, and a world-class collection of African art, the hotel embodies the fusion of business, leisure, and Ghanaian heritage.
Originally built in the 1950s and gifted to Ghana by the United Kingdom, the Ambassador Hotel has been a symbol of national pride. Its transformation into the modern Mövenpick brand aligns with Adjei’s own journey: from starting out at Novotel Accra to leading projects across Africa and the Caribbean for Accor’s vast brand portfolio.
As a Certified Accor Trainer, Adjei has mentored talent, championed service excellence, and helped shape Mövenpick Accra’s identity—having served on its original pre-opening team.
His return to the property after key international assignments is both symbolic and strategic. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Executive Assistant Manager, demonstrating leadership and operational expertise that positioned him as the natural choice to take over the helm.
Academically, Adjei’s credentials are equally impressive. He holds a First-Class degree in Social Sciences from KNUST, an MPhil in French from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Laws from GIMPA, and a Qualifying Certificate of Law from the Ghana School of Law.
