Ellembelle MP and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has donated 1,000 pieces of furniture to the Kikam Technical Institute (KIMTECH) to address classroom shortages and enhance learning for the school’s 2,800 students.
The donation comes after the Institute’s Principal, Emmanuel Bright Nomah, appealed for urgent support to tackle a significant furniture deficit, particularly as new courses expand student enrolment.
Speaking at the handover, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah assured that the government is committed to resolving the national school furniture crisis within three years. He encouraged students to seize the opportunity for technical training, emphasizing careers in engineering, welding, masonry, and electrical work.
Highlighting KIMTECH’s status as a “Certified Energy Commission Centre,” the Minister pledged to work with the Ministry of Education to provide a new school bus and follow up on other infrastructure needs.
Principal Nomah described the furniture donation as a milestone for the school’s academic excellence, praising past interventions by Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah, including water projects, the construction of the Electronic Block for oil and gas training, and the donation of a Toyota pick-up van.
The Ellembelle District Chief Executive, Joseph Armah Agyekum, noted ongoing government projects at the Institute, such as a dormitory block, six-unit classroom, and a new dining hall, stressing that technical and vocational education is key to Ghana’s development.
Traditional authority Nana Etiase II lauded the MP’s contributions and urged the government to upgrade KIMTECH into a Technical University to maximize the institution’s potential.
The donation of furniture marks a new chapter for KIMTECH, reinforcing its mission to provide quality technical education and prepare students for industry-relevant careers.
