The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called on cocoa farmers to hold the previous government responsible for the current challenges in the cocoa sector, including falling cocoa prices.
Speaking during a thank-you tour in Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr. Asiedu Nketia highlighted that President John Mahama had set up a committee to investigate the issues and assured farmers that corrective measures were underway. He urged them to exercise patience, emphasizing that the NDC government had implemented prudent policies to stabilize and support the cocoa industry.
Central Regional NDC Chairman, Mr. Richard Kofi Asiedu, encouraged constituents to maintain their support for the party ahead of the next elections, citing the strong voter turnout in the 2024 polls.
During the tour, the Twifo-Atti-Morkwa District Chief Executive, Mr. Isaac Yawson, assured residents that the government would continue prioritizing development in the region. He highlighted the imminent completion of two legacy projects—a school building and market stores—initiated by the previous administration, underscoring continuity in regional development efforts.
The visit combined gratitude for electoral support with promises to address sectoral and regional challenges, signaling the NDC’s commitment to both cocoa farmers and broader community development in the Central Region.
