Nkoranza, Mo Chiefs Agree to End Protracted Land Dispute

A major breakthrough has been recorded in the longstanding land, boundary and related disputes between the Nkoranza and Mo traditional areas following a peace dialogue facilitated by Ghana Link Network Services Limited Executive Chairman, Nick Danso Adjei, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi.

The paramount chiefs of the two traditional areas were brought together for a peace meeting on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in an effort to resolve the protracted disagreements that had strained relations between the two communities.

The meeting culminated in an agreement by the traditional leaders to end the dispute, restore peaceful relations and take steps to withdraw or discontinue court cases arising from the disagreements.

The longstanding conflict, which has centred on land, boundaries and related traditional matters, had at various times contributed to tensions and violent clashes between the affected communities.

Mr Danso Adjei and the Regional Minister urged the chiefs and their respective traditional councils to put the safety, unity and development of their people ahead of the issues that had divided them.

Choosing dialogue over confrontation

The two sides acknowledged the strong historical, cultural, family and economic ties between the people of Nkoranza and Mo and agreed that dialogue and cooperation offered a more constructive path than prolonged litigation and confrontation.

The agreement is expected to provide a more stable environment for farming, commerce, investment and community development in the affected areas.

It is also expected to help residents rebuild trust and strengthen the peaceful coexistence that has historically linked the two traditional areas.

Mr Danso Adjei commended the traditional leaders for what he described as courage, maturity and a genuine commitment to peace.

He also expressed appreciation to the Bono East Regional Minister for his leadership and collaboration throughout the mediation process.

Next steps

The parties have been encouraged to ensure that the agreement is fully implemented, properly documented and communicated to their respective communities.

The traditional authorities are also expected to establish appropriate channels through which future disagreements can be addressed peacefully and promptly, rather than allowing disputes to escalate.

The mediation has been described as an example of what can be achieved when traditional leaders, public officials and private-sector actors work together to promote peace and social cohesion.

Mr Danso Adjei has reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, social cohesion and sustainable development in communities across Ghana.
