Six students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (O’Sɛc Tech) have been arrested by the police following violent disturbances at the school that left the headmaster, Mr Abdulai Zakaria, injured.
The students are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the assault on the headmaster, as well as the destruction of school property during the unrest.
According to reports, the disturbances resulted in damage to three bungalows, vehicles and other valuable properties belonging to the school.
Meanwhile, the Obuasi Municipal Assembly has directed that the school be closed indefinitely as authorities work to restore calm and ensure the safety of all persons on campus.
The Assembly said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to protect students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
The condition of the headmaster has not been officially disclosed, but reports indicate that he received medical attention at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after sustaining injuries during the attack.
The police are continuing investigations into the incident, while education authorities are expected to determine the next steps regarding the reopening of the school and measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
