Pastor Christopher Agbeyanfia, Regional Coordinator for the Middle-Belt Zone of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), has urged Christians to adopt healthier lifestyles in order to live longer and effectively fulfil their calling in both ministry and secular life.
Delivering a sermon during a joint Lord’s Supper service at the Ridge Central Church, Pastor Agbeyanfia emphasised that while God promises longevity, believers must also take responsibility for their health through proper diet, regular exercise and adequate rest.
He encouraged congregants to engage in regular physical activity, consume balanced meals, increase their intake of fruits and water, and cut down on sugary and canned foods to strengthen their immune systems.
According to him, regular exercise plays a vital role in maintaining good health, as it improves digestion, helps remove toxins from the body, regulates body temperature and contributes to lowering blood pressure.
The service brought together members of the church from several surrounding communities, including Abesim, Yamfo, Nsoatre, Wawasua, Fiapre, Techire, Susuanso and Adrobaa.
Pastor Agbeyanfia also highlighted the importance of moderate exposure to sunlight, explaining that it helps increase Vitamin D levels and strengthens bones, particularly as people grow older.
“As people age, their bones naturally become weaker, so it is important to take steps that help maintain physical strength,” he said, adding that ministers of the gospel in particular should ensure they get sufficient rest.
Beyond physical health, the pastor called on Christians to practice self-control and avoid harmful habits such as alcoholism, tobacco use and illicit drugs. He warned that substance abuse can damage lives and contribute to stress-related conditions, including depression.
Quoting from the **Book of Proverbs (Proverbs 3:5–8), Pastor Agbeyanfia urged believers to strengthen their trust in God, stressing that true peace and emotional stability ultimately come from faith in God.
