The Ghana Police Service has intensified investigations into a suspected murder case in Awutu Bentum, near Kasoa, following the recovery of human remains believed to be that of a missing trader.
According to prosecutors, the remains have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue, where a pathologist’s report is expected to provide critical evidence to support ongoing investigations.
The accused, Xorlali Alortusah, a 25-year-old fetish priest and herbalist, has been charged with murder and remanded into custody by the Adabraka District Court. His plea is yet to be taken, with the case adjourned to April 16, 2026.
Prosecution told the court that the deceased, identified as 40-year-old trader Joyce Akua Ampomaa, had previously sought herbal and spiritual assistance from the suspect. Investigators allege that she went missing after a visit to him earlier this month.
Following reports from residents, police launched a search operation that led to the discovery of remains near the suspect’s farm. Authorities say subsequent investigations resulted in the arrest of the suspect, who is assisting with inquiries.
The case has drawn attention to the importance of community vigilance, as information from residents played a key role in aiding police investigations. Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice through due process.
