Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has emerged as one of the most sought-after young midfielders in the Premier League after rejecting the club’s latest contract offer.
The 22-year-old England Under-21 international has two years remaining on his current deal, but Bournemouth are keen to secure his long-term future amid mounting interest from several top-flight rivals.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea are all understood to be monitoring Scott’s situation.
Arsenal already had an approach for the midfielder rejected by Bournemouth in June, according to BBC Sport, highlighting the Cherries’ determination to retain one of their key players.
Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for a reported £25 million and has since made 89 appearances for the club, scoring six goals.
His stock has continued to rise following Bournemouth’s impressive 2025-26 campaign under Andoni Iraola. The Cherries finished sixth in the Premier League to secure Europa League football for the first time in the club’s history.
The midfielder’s potential has also been recognised at international level. He received his first England senior call-up last November and was later included in Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, although he is yet to make his senior debut.
Scott began his professional career at Bristol City after joining from Guernsey FC in 2020. He made 91 appearances for the Championship club and was named the division’s Young Player of the Season for the 2022-23 campaign.
His contract situation comes amid an increasingly expensive Premier League midfield market. Manchester City are set to sign Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson for £116 million, while Chelsea are closing in on Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers in a deal worth £117 million.
Tottenham have also strengthened their midfield with the £100 million signing of Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and an £85 million deal for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.
With Bournemouth eager to avoid losing Scott and several of England’s biggest clubs watching closely, the midfielder’s future could become one of the major transfer stories of the summer.
