Real Madrid have emerged as the preferred destination for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after Paris Saint-Germain ended their pursuit of the highly rated Ivory Coast international.
The Spanish giants have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with the 19-year-old, whose proposed contract is understood to be structured around performance-related incentives similar to those included in Jude Bellingham’s deal.
Real Madrid are now expected to pay more than £100 million for Diomande, who has quickly become one of Europe’s most sought-after young attackers.
PSG had been considered the frontrunners for the player but withdrew from the race after an alleged final bid of £102.5 million was rejected by Leipzig on Sunday.
The French champions subsequently criticised what they described as excessive transfer and salary demands, insisting that the club would not compromise its financial management principles or enter what it called an inflated transfer market.
Liverpool had also shown strong interest in Diomande and saw an initial offer of £69 million rejected in June. The Premier League club has since turned its attention to other targets.
Real Madrid’s interest in the teenager, however, is understood to have been long-standing. Key figures at the club, including Jose Angel and Juni Calafat, are reportedly said to have followed Diomande’s development for around five years.
Sources close to the Spanish club insist that Madrid’s decision was not based solely on Diomande’s performances at the recent World Cup.
Leipzig had hoped to retain the winger after signing him from Spanish club Leganes last summer on a five-year contract. However, the scale of interest from Europe’s leading clubs has made his departure increasingly likely.
Diomande enjoyed a standout 2025-26 Bundesliga campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists to win the league’s Young Player of the Season award.
Born in Ivory Coast, he moved to the United States in 2025 to join an academy before continuing his development in Spain with Leganes.
His expected move to Real Madrid would represent a major step in the career of the teenager and potentially one of the biggest transfer deals involving a player of his age.
