Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s private sector, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as part of efforts to drive long-term economic transformation.
The bank’s Managing Director, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, made the remarks during the three-day Kwahu Business Forum, which focused on the theme “The Future of Business: Scaling Up Local Enterprise.”
Speaking on the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Dzoboku stressed that Ghana’s economic progress largely depends on the ability of local businesses to grow beyond small-scale operations into competitive and scalable enterprises capable of generating jobs and innovation.
He highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between financial institutions and the private sector, noting that banks must play a more active role in providing not just financing, but also tailored advisory services to support business expansion.
According to him, Republic Bank’s five-year strategic plan is deliberately aligned with the needs of businesses across key sectors, with a focus on customised financial solutions, sector-specific support, and capacity-building initiatives.
Dr. Dzoboku further emphasised that scaling up local enterprises would have a direct impact on national development by strengthening supply chains, boosting exports, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing innovation.
The Kwahu Business Forum brought together policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, and development partners to deliberate on practical strategies for improving the competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses and positioning them for sustainable growth.
