In a strong statement against corruption and inefficiency, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam Nartey George, has justified the recent dismissal of 13 staff members from his ministry, describing it as a bold and necessary measure to restore integrity and public trust.
Addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the Minister explained that the terminations were part of a wider effort to sanitise the ministry’s operations, especially within the World Bank-funded Ghana Digital Acceleration Programme.
“This was a patriotic action to protect Ghana’s image and reassure our international partners that we mean business when it comes to transparency and good governance,” Sam George emphasized.
The Minister revealed that the decision, taken in consultation with the World Bank office in Accra, was triggered by concerns over operational integrity within the Project Implementation Unit. He added that the World Bank has since granted clearance for a new recruitment drive, which will be handled with strict scrutiny to ensure only highly qualified and ethical professionals are brought on board.
The move signals a renewed commitment by the ministry to fight graft and promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and digital transformation.
