GHOne News presenter and television personality Serwaa Amihere has issued an unreserved public apology following backlash over comments she made about Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), which many described as offensive and inappropriate.
The remarks, which circulated widely on social media, prompted strong reactions from members of the PRESEC community and school authorities, who criticised the statement as misleading and harmful to the school’s image. In response, the school reaffirmed its long-standing reputation for academic excellence, discipline and moral formation, urging the public to respect the institution and its alumni.
Addressing the controversy, Ms Amihere explained that the comment was made during what she described as casual, light-hearted banter about second-cycle schools. She clarified that the exchange took place off-camera while she was interacting with followers on her personal TikTok live session, and not during an official broadcast.
Despite stating that the remark was intended as a joke, she acknowledged that it caused offence and accepted full responsibility for her words. In a video apology shared online, she expressed regret and apologised directly to the PRESEC community and its old students.
Ms Amihere said the incident had been a learning experience and assured the public that she would exercise greater caution in the future.
The apology comes shortly after Ms Amihere was called to the Bar, marking a significant personal milestone, even as she navigates public scrutiny over the controversy.
