The High Court has sentenced Deborah Seyram Adablah, the woman widely known for suing her alleged married “sugar daddy,” to 45 days in prison. She is to serve the sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison following a contempt charge.
The court’s ruling follows the issuance of a bench warrant for her arrest after Adablah published two videos on social media in which she verbally attacked the Judiciary.
Her comments were deemed disrespectful and in direct violation of the court’s authority.
Deborah Seyram Adablah, who is currently unemployed but previously completed her National Service, made headlines in 2023 after filing a controversial civil suit against her former lover—a married man who had reportedly promised her financial support, a car, and other benefits during their relationship.
The videos that triggered the contempt charge are said to have undermined the dignity of the court, prompting swift judicial action.
In its ruling, the court stressed that public confidence in the justice system must be preserved and that such conduct cannot go unpunished.
Adablah was taken into custody and transported to Nsawam following the court’s sentencing.
Legal analysts say the ruling sends a clear message about the consequences of defying judicial authority, especially in an era of viral social media commentary.
The case continues to draw national attention, reigniting debates about personal relationships, social media freedom, and respect for judicial processes in Ghana.
