Spain is strengthening its commercial engagement with Ghana’s growing food and beverage market, with the latest edition of Taste Spain Accra serving as a platform to connect Spanish producers with local importers, distributors and hospitality businesses.
The eighth edition of the gastronomic and trade exhibition, organised by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Accra with support from Spain’s Institute for Trade and Investment (ICEX), brought together Spanish companies seeking to expand their presence in Ghana and explore new business opportunities.
The event featured a wide range of Spanish products, including sparkling wines, juices and gourmet food items, showcasing the diversity of Spain’s culinary industry while promoting trade partnerships between businesses in both countries.
Taste Spain Accra 2026 attracted importers, retailers, hotels, restaurants, catering firms and industry professionals interested in sourcing new products and establishing direct relationships with Spanish manufacturers.
In addition to product exhibitions, participants engaged in tasting sessions and networking activities aimed at facilitating business connections and increasing awareness of Spanish food and beverage offerings in the Ghanaian market.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Yann Emonet Ripoll, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy, highlighted the growing demand for Spanish products in Ghana and the increasing importance of trade relations between the two countries.
According to him, bilateral trade has continued to expand, with Spanish exports to Ghana reaching €267 million in 2025, representing a 26 percent increase compared to the previous year.
He noted that the agri-food sector has emerged as one of the strongest drivers of this growth, with exports rising significantly from €23.5 million in 2024 to €50.2 million in 2025. The sector accounted for nearly one-fifth of Spain’s total exports to Ghana during the period.
Mr. Ripoll said the figures demonstrate the growing appetite among Ghanaian consumers and businesses for Spanish products and underscore the importance of platforms such as Taste Spain Accra in promoting commercial cooperation.
He explained that while Spanish wines remain internationally recognized and continue to attract interest, this year’s exhibition deliberately broadened its focus to include a wider variety of food and beverage products, offering a more comprehensive presentation of Spain’s gastronomic strengths.
The event was held simultaneously with similar editions in Nairobi and Abidjan, reflecting Spain’s broader strategy of expanding trade and investment opportunities across emerging African markets.
Mr. Ripoll reaffirmed his office’s commitment to facilitating business matchmaking and supporting stronger commercial partnerships between Ghanaian and Spanish enterprises.
He noted that over the years, Taste Spain Accra has evolved into a key platform for fostering trade relationships and introducing Spanish producers to opportunities within Ghana’s expanding consumer market.
Industry stakeholders believe the continued growth of trade exchanges between the two countries could create new opportunities for investment, product distribution and collaboration within Ghana’s food, hospitality and retail sectors.
