The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has pledged to reduce spare parts prices in response to the recent appreciation of the Ghana Cedi against the US Dollar under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
In a statement signed by the Association’s Director of Communications, Takyi Addo, the group expressed its commitment to supporting government efforts to stabilize the economy and reduce the cost of living for Ghanaians.
Chairman of the Association, Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr, commended the government for taking “bold and decisive” steps that have strengthened the local currency, helping businesses and ordinary consumers alike.
“We believe that as the Cedi continues to recover, it is only fair to pass on some of these benefits to our customers,” Mr. Okyere said. “This decision reflects our desire to contribute to national economic recovery and provide some relief to Ghanaians facing high living costs.”
The Association also called on its members to fully comply with the new pricing directive, emphasizing that it is a step towards promoting fair trading practices and building a more resilient economy.
The move comes as the government intensifies efforts to stabilize the Cedi and curb inflation, a strategy that has received praise from various industry groups, including the spare parts sector, which heavily relies on imports.
