The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has confirmed that it has not allocated any funds for the Black Stars’ upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Bagbara Tanko, Head of PR and Communications at the Ministry, stated that neither the Ministry’s budget nor corporate sponsorship has been committed to support the matches. He also addressed circulating social media videos showing Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams alongside a group of fans at the airport.
“The individuals captured in the video are not known to the Minister,” Tanko said, clarifying that the interaction was a casual encounter as the Minister boarded his flight to Germany on official duty. No arrangements were made for fan travel, and the public is urged to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent management of state resources while the Minister travels to meet the Black Stars squad and technical team ahead of the friendly matches.
