Nigeria’s Super Eagles delivered a commanding performance against Rwanda’s Wasps, securing a 2-0 victory to strengthen their bid for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.
The win was particularly significant for Nigeria, considering past encounters between the two teams, where Rwanda managed a win and a draw against the Super Eagles.
Victor Osimhen was the star of the match, opening the scoring in the 11th minute as Nigeria’s 4-4-2 formation, spearheaded by Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, proved effective.
Before halftime, Osimhen struck again, doubling Nigeria’s lead and putting Erik Chelle’s men in firm control.
Despite dominating possession in the second half and limiting Rwanda’s attacking opportunities, the Super Eagles were unable to extend their lead further.
With this crucial victory, Nigeria now shifts focus to their next qualifier against Zimbabwe in Uyo, Nigeria.
