The suspended Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has appealed to striking staff to return to duty as industrial action continues to disrupt healthcare delivery at the facility.
In a letter dated June 8, 2026, Dr. Baidoo expressed appreciation to staff for what he described as their solidarity during the strike period, but urged them to prioritise patient welfare by resuming normal work activities.
He stressed that the ongoing industrial action was affecting essential health services and placing significant pressure on patients and the general public who rely on the hospital.
According to him, discussions on the resolution of outstanding issues are expected to be handled by the Ministry of Health and the governing board of KATH, under the leadership of Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
While acknowledging staff concerns, the suspended CEO called for calm and cooperation, insisting that full restoration of hospital services remained urgent and necessary.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all staff of the hospital for your show of solidarity… however, I need you all to return back to duty in the supreme interest of Ghanaians and our valued patients,” he stated in the letter.
Management reaffirmed its commitment to the government and the President of the Republic, while encouraging dialogue to resolve the impasse.
