Form two student Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, who sustained a severe eye injury earlier this year from an accidental shooting, has made significant progress following a successful eye surgery in the United Kingdom.
The operation, performed at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, has set Suzzy on a promising path toward regaining her independence and vision.
The news was confirmed by Rafik Mahama, special aide to businessman Ibrahim Mahama, who played a crucial role in facilitating the young student’s treatment abroad. Suzzy was airlifted to the UK on May 10, 2025, with logistical and financial support from Ibrahim Mahama and assistance from Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Expressing gratitude, Rafik Mahama acknowledged the dedication of medical teams in both Ghana and the UK, highlighting Moorfields Eye Hospital’s exceptional care.
He also thanked key figures including Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Ghana High Commission in London, outgoing UK High Commissioner Harriet Thompson, and others who contributed to Suzzy’s medical journey.
The operation’s success and Suzzy’s recovery symbolize the powerful impact of coordinated support and community goodwill. Her case, which captured widespread public concern earlier this year, now serves as an inspiring example of hope and the difference collaborative efforts can make in urgent medical situations.
