In a significant boost to digital education in the Tema East Constituency, Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Member of Parliament, has commissioned a fully equipped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory for Twedaase Junior High School, reinforcing efforts to bridge the digital divide in public education.
The initiative, done in partnership with the Tema Metro Education Directorate, is a strategic step towards promoting computer literacy and technological empowerment among basic school pupils in the area.
Mr. Odamtten, reflecting on his own academic struggles, shared a personal story with the students to inspire them to embrace education fully.
“When I was your age, I didn’t enjoy school much. But with determination, I made it here. If I can, you can do even more,” he said, encouraging the youth to make full use of the resources at their disposal.
He reaffirmed his ongoing support for education and underscored the strong backing of President John Dramani Mahama for ICT development in schools, describing digital skills as essential tools for the modern student.
The facility is not only furnished with computers but also comes with an ICT facilitator, courtesy of the MP’s office, ensuring that the lab serves more than just a symbolic purpose — it will actively contribute to hands-on learning.
Mrs. Bernice Ofori, Tema Metro Education Director, lauded the MP for his foresight and practical contributions to education in the municipality.
“This is not just an ICT lab; it’s an investment in the future of our children,” she remarked, appealing for further support including a projector to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Headmistress Mrs. Rebecca Yaa Menssima Pobee described the new lab as a game changer that would elevate both teaching and learning experiences at Twedaase JHS.
In a touching gesture, students of the school expressed their appreciation through a poem, celebrating the MP’s intervention and the transformative potential the computers bring to their academic journeys.
The inauguration is part of Mr. Odamtten’s broader vision to make Tema East a model constituency for public education reform through technology integration and resource enhancement.
