Ghanaian media personality Cynthia Tima Yeboah, popularly known as Tima Kumkum, has disclosed that her marriage has been heading towards divorce after she and her husband separated on April 1, 2025.
Tima revealed that the couple has been living separately for more than a year, with their divorce proceedings currently before the court.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, she explained that she initially chose not to discuss the matter publicly because she preferred to keep the reasons behind the breakdown of the marriage private.
She said persistent public speculation about her relationship status, however, eventually made it necessary for her to clarify the situation.
“We don’t live together. I’m unbothered by any criticism. We need to call a spade a spade. You can’t hide it forever. When I was getting married everyone saw it, so if it has ended, they need to know,” she said.
‘Partially single’
Tima described her current status as “partially single”, explaining that although she and her husband are no longer living together, they remain legally married until the court completes the divorce process.
The couple married on July 15, 2023, in a widely publicised ceremony that attracted considerable attention on social media.
Reflecting on the short-lived marriage, Tima said she never anticipated that the relationship would eventually break down.
Despite the separation, she acknowledged her husband’s role as a father, describing him as a responsible parent who continues to care for their child.
She indicated that matters concerning the child and custody were being handled appropriately as the legal proceedings continue.
‘I’m gradually healing’
The media personality admitted that the experience had been difficult but said she was gradually coming to terms with the situation and healing.
She also recalled the pressure that came with public reactions to her marriage, particularly because many people continued to associate her with the relationship even after the couple had separated.
According to her, keeping the matter private for a period was partly an attempt to protect herself from unnecessary public scrutiny while dealing with the breakdown of the marriage.
With the divorce now before the court, Tima said the remaining step was for the legal process to be completed.
For the moment, she said she was not interested in pursuing another marriage, choosing instead to concentrate on her life and allow the future to take its course.
As she prepares to turn 39 next month, Tima said she remains optimistic and hopeful about the next chapter of her life.
