Ghanaian gospel musician Uncle Ato has applauded President John Dramani Mahama for prioritising the creative arts sector during his 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The artist welcomed the President’s announcement of GHS20 million for the film industry and an additional GHS20 million for other creative sectors, including the music industry, describing the move as bold and commendable.
Speaking on Live Worship on Accra 100.FM, Uncle Ato noted that the financial support reflects a renewed commitment to the growth and sustainability of Ghana’s creative economy. He said the intervention is expected to empower filmmakers and musicians, create employment for the youth, and promote Ghanaian culture internationally.
“The President has done well to recognise the vital role the creative arts industry plays in national development,” Uncle Ato remarked, expressing optimism that the funds will be disbursed transparently to achieve meaningful impact across the sector.
