The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has expanded opportunities for young people in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, as 44 recruits—comprising 31 Community Police and 13 Fire Service Assistants—successfully completed their training and are set to be deployed to various duty stations next week.
The recruits, made up of 20 females and 24 males, were selected from across communities in the municipality to serve under YEA’s flagship modules designed to provide skills, discipline, and temporary employment for Ghana’s youth while preparing them for permanent roles in national security services.
Addressing the recruits at the passing-out ceremony, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah underscored the programme’s role in shaping responsible and employable citizens. He encouraged them to leverage the experience gained through YEA to position themselves for future recruitment into mainstream security institutions.
“This programme is a stepping stone,” Mr. Boamah said. “If you remain disciplined, hardworking, and respectful to your superiors, you will not only serve your communities well but also open doors for long-term careers in the security services.”
The Municipal YEA Director, Mr. Abdul Aziz Muawiyah, urged more graduates and unemployed youth to take advantage of future recruitment opportunities. He disclosed that additional modules—including Arabic Teaching and placements with the National Insurance Commission—will soon be rolled out.
Beneficiaries of the current intake expressed optimism that the skills acquired would improve their employability while enabling them to contribute meaningfully to community safety and emergency response.
The initiative forms part of YEA’s broader mandate to reduce youth unemployment while equipping young people with practical training and career pathways that can help secure their futures.
