A 19-year-old woman, Emmanuella Asante, is in police custody after her boyfriend, 33-year-old Enoch Abrokwa, died from injuries he allegedly sustained when she stabbed him during a disagreement at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
Abrokwa died on October 14, five days after the incident, which occurred on Friday, October 9, 2026, at his business premises.
The Accra Regional Police Command, in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 21, said preliminary investigations indicated that a misunderstanding between the two escalated into violence, resulting in the alleged stabbing with a piece of broken glass.
According to the police, Abrokwa was first taken to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to Ridge Hospital for further treatment.
He underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines but died while receiving medical care.
Police said Asante was arrested on October 10 after the complainant and three other persons brought her to the police.
The suspect reportedly admitted to stabbing Abrokwa and was subsequently arraigned before a court. She has been remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear on November 3, 2026.
The Tesano Divisional Police Command is investigating the case as the legal process continues.
The Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
It has also urged the public to cooperate with investigators as the case proceeds in accordance with the law.
