Twenty-five hardworking public sector employees in the Oti Region were honoured with household appliances and special recognition awards during the 2026 May Day celebration organised by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana regional secretariat.
The awards ceremony, held at the parade grounds in Kadjebi, recognised workers for their dedication and commitment to public service.
Award categories included Best Worker of the Year, Best Female Worker, Longest Serving Worker, and Dedicated Worker.
Recipients went home with prizes such as freezers, refrigerators, sewing machines, television sets, ovens, and other appliances.
Oti Regional Chairman of Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, Mr Francis Apawu, praised workers for their resilience and sacrifices, saying their contributions continue to keep public institutions functioning effectively.
He called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to institutionalise annual reward schemes for outstanding workers to improve morale and productivity.
Speaking on the national May Day theme, “Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihood Beyond Macroeconomic Stability,” Mr Apawu stressed that economic stability must translate into real benefits for workers.
