Presidential hopeful and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, signaled the importance of faith-based institutions in national life as he joined the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s 25th General Assembly at Rock City Hotels in the Eastern Region.
Dr. Acheampong, who is vying for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership ahead of the 2028 general elections, described the gathering as both spiritually uplifting and socially significant. “It was an honour to be part of such a remarkable Assembly. The messages and the spirit of fellowship were deeply encouraging,” he reflected after the event.
While offering prayers for God’s blessings upon the church, he also acknowledged the Presbyterian Church’s longstanding contributions to education, health, and national development, stressing that its mission continues to shape lives beyond the pulpit.
The Assembly, which drew clergy, lay leaders, and congregants from across Ghana, deliberated on the church’s role in addressing societal challenges, strengthening faith, and expanding its service to communities.
Observers note that Acheampong’s presence at the Assembly highlights how political leaders continue to seek engagement with faith communities, recognizing their influence in shaping values, social policies, and national discourse.
