In a bold move aimed at increasing transparency within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has requested that his upcoming disciplinary hearing be broadcast live to party members and the general public.
This comes after the party referred him to its National Disciplinary Committee for allegedly making defamatory statements against presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong and spreading false claims about General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua.
In a letter issued on Tuesday, September 30, Abronye declared his readiness to face the committee and defended his actions as a necessary confrontation with what he called “antichrist actions” within the party, specifically targeting Kennedy Agyapong.
According to him, these actions have undermined party unity and integrity, and he intends to present evidence to support his claims during the hearing.
The NPP leadership had earlier described Abronye’s conduct as “unbecoming,” stating that it risked damaging the party’s public image. However, Abronye insists the disciplinary process should not be shrouded in secrecy, arguing that a live telecast would foster trust in the party’s internal accountability mechanisms.
His stance highlights growing internal tensions within the NPP as it navigates heated pre-election politics, with accusations, rivalries, and factionalism increasingly coming into public view. The Disciplinary Committee has yet to announce the official date for the hearing.
