Supporters of Dr. Bryan Acheampong are projecting a strong showing for the former minister in the New Patriotic Party’s upcoming flagbearer contest, citing what they describe as growing nationwide acceptance and intensive grassroots engagement.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Member of Parliament for Mpraeso and campaign team member, Davis Ansah Opoku, said internal assessments point to Dr. Acheampong gaining significant support across multiple regions, including traditionally competitive areas. He mentioned the Eastern, Volta and Greater Accra regions as key strongholds, while predicting respectable results in the Northern regions and the Ashanti Region.
According to Mr. Opoku, Dr. Acheampong’s campaign message has resonated beyond regional or generational considerations. He argued that the candidate is not merely positioning himself as a future leader, but as someone ready to take charge immediately and drive the party’s agenda forward.
He attributed the campaign’s optimism to what he described as extensive outreach and visibility, which he believes has helped build recognition and trust among party delegates nationwide. Mr. Opoku also dismissed suggestions that support in the northern regions would be limited, insisting that Dr. Acheampong is competitive even outside his perceived base.
The Mpraeso MP further stressed that the campaign is focused on securing victory not just in the internal party contest but also in positioning the NPP strongly for the 2028 general elections. He described Dr. Acheampong as a well-known political figure with the capacity and determination to lead the party back to power.
The comments reflect increasing confidence within the Acheampong camp as the NPP flagbearer race gathers momentum, with contenders intensifying efforts to court support across the country.
