The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has officially dismissed circulating reports suggesting that cement prices would rise by GH¢6 starting Monday, January 19, 2026.
In a statement, the Authority clarified that no such increase has been approved, either by the GSA or the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which oversees cement pricing and production policies.
“The committee has taken no decision to revise cement prices. Any information suggesting otherwise is inaccurate,” the statement emphasized.
The GSA warned that spreading unverified reports could create unnecessary market tension and instability. Consumers, traders, and industry stakeholders were urged to rely solely on official communications from the Authority for accurate information regarding cement pricing.
The clarification was endorsed by Professor George Agyei, Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority, reinforcing the commitment to transparency and market stability.
