Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has announced a series of development interventions targeting the Wa East District, with a strong focus on agriculture, infrastructure and healthcare to transform livelihoods in the area.
Speaking during his thank-you tour, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress revealed that Wa East is among the first districts selected to benefit from the government’s Farmer Service Centre Policy. The initiative is expected to support farmers with services and inputs to improve productivity in what he described as one of Ghana’s key food-producing zones.
He further disclosed that Funsi, the district capital, would be included in the government’s 24-hour economy market policy to enhance the marketing and distribution of agricultural produce. In addition, major road projects such as the Bulenga–Yagaba–Kubori stretch have been captured under the “Big Push” infrastructure programme to ease transportation challenges in the district.
On social services, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah assured residents of ongoing efforts to expand rural telephony and improve access to healthcare through new CHPS compounds and the continuation of inherited projects, including the Agenda 111 hospital at Funsi.
While welcoming the initiatives, Osumanu Yahaya highlighted persistent development gaps, including poor roads, limited electricity access and delays in health infrastructure delivery. He urged government to accelerate upgrades of local health facilities to improve service delivery across the constituency.
