The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has initiated a review process into the revocation of mining leases held by Adamus Resources Limited, while simultaneously installing an interim management team to oversee the mine’s operations.
The move follows a formal petition by the company seeking an administrative reconsideration of the decision affecting its concessions at Akango, Salman, and Nkroful.
Addressing the media in Accra, the Minister indicated that a newly constituted committee will begin work immediately to assess the petition, revisit findings by the Minerals Commission, and engage the company directly on issues raised.
He explained that the committee’s mandate includes evaluating additional information and ensuring that Adamus is given a fair opportunity to respond to concerns surrounding the lease revocation.
The committee is expected to complete its work within two weeks and submit recommendations to guide the government’s next steps.
In the interim, a separate management team has been tasked to run the mine in collaboration with Adamus, ensuring continuity and stability during the review period.
The intervention comes after authorities revoked the company’s leases over alleged violations, including environmental breaches, unauthorised operations, and failure to meet regulatory requirements.
Despite these findings, the Minister stressed that the current approach seeks to balance strict enforcement of mining laws with fairness, due process, and the protection of investor interests.
