Support is steadily growing within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Mr Kofi Delali Kasu, a former parliamentary aspirant for the Ho Central Constituency, as party faithful and grassroots activists intensify calls for his endorsement as the next Volta Regional Deputy Secretary.
Party loyalists say Mr Kasu’s years of commitment, loyalty, and grassroots mobilisation efforts have positioned him as the preferred choice for the role ahead of the party’s internal elections.
Mr Francis Asamani, a staunch party member in Ho, described Mr Kasu as a dedicated and experienced figure who had remained committed to the ideals of the NDC over the years.
“I am not in any doubt that Mr Kasu is the preferred candidate for the position. His devotion and commitment to the party are top-notch, and he has been in this political struggle for quite some time now,” he told the Ghana News Agency.
He also cautioned against attempts to sideline committed party members based on financial considerations, insisting that competence, loyalty, and hard work should remain the key criteria for leadership selection.
Supporters of Mr Kasu argue that his leadership qualities, communication skills, and organisational abilities make him well-suited for the position.
In a statement, some grassroots activists described leadership as a responsibility rooted in service, vision, and dedication rather than the mere occupation of office.
According to them, Mr Kasu has built strong relationships across various levels of the party structure through effective coordination and consistent engagement with party members.
They further portrayed him as a hardworking grassroots mobiliser whose commitment to strategic planning and party organisation had earned him admiration among supporters and sympathisers.
“As grassroots Major General, he understands the people and works tirelessly for the collective good of the party,” the statement noted.
Another party loyalist, Mr Manfred Kuku, praised Mr Kasu for what he described as unwavering loyalty and sacrifice for the NDC, noting that he had risen through the ranks of the party through dedication and commitment.
He expressed confidence that Mr Kasu’s leadership would complement the work of the Volta Regional Chairman, Mr Agbavitor Mawutor, whom he described as hardworking and selfless.
Supporters also referenced Mr Kasu’s participation in the 2023 Ho Central parliamentary primaries as evidence of his commitment to public service and political leadership.
They believe his analytical thinking, inclusiveness, and interpersonal skills could help strengthen party unity and reposition the NDC for future electoral success in the Volta Region.
“A vote for Kasu is a vote for growth, unity, and progress,” supporters declared.
