The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi East, Mr William Kofi Adzowu, has outlined a wide range of development projects undertaken in his first year in office, highlighting improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and local economic growth.
Speaking at a media engagement in Obuasi, Mr Adzowu expressed gratitude to traditional leaders, assembly staff and residents for their support since assuming office on May 15, 2025, noting that the Assembly remains focused on improving living standards across the municipality.
He revealed that the Assembly recorded strong financial performance, generating GH¢3,859,326.79 in Internally Generated Funds (IGF), representing 98.76 per cent of its revenue target, attributing the achievement to improved revenue mobilisation and prudent financial management.
On education, he cited several ongoing and completed projects including classroom blocks, sanitation facilities, and expansion works aimed at easing overcrowding and improving teaching and learning conditions in various communities.
In the health sector, Mr Adzowu said construction is underway on modern health centres at Domeabra and Ayease, each including staff accommodation, boreholes, and improved sanitation facilities to strengthen healthcare delivery.
He also noted that 30 mechanised boreholes have been provided to enhance access to clean water across the municipality.
On infrastructure, the MCE highlighted road works including a new alternative route linking Tutuka-Tiatiaso to Boete, complete with a box culvert to improve connectivity and traffic flow.
He further announced the relocation of traders to the new Boete Timber Market, describing the exercise as a step toward better urban planning and improved commercial activity.
Looking ahead, Mr Adzowu said the Assembly plans to convert the Kwabenakwa E-Block facility into a nursing training school, complete key administrative buildings, and equip schools with furniture to support learning.
He also disclosed plans to establish a 24-hour economy market at the old Boete Timber Market to boost night-time trade and create new employment opportunities in the municipality.
