Some aggrieved members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency have called for the annulment of the party’s recent polling station elections, alleging widespread irregularities, intimidation, and violations of electoral guidelines.
The group is demanding an independent investigation into the conduct of the elections and fresh polls under the supervision of the party’s National Elections Committee.
Speaking at a press conference in Tarkwa, the group’s convenor, Mr. Ampoful Adu Narkaah, accused some constituency executives and election officials of manipulating the electoral process, resulting in the exclusion and disqualification of several loyal party members.
According to him, the problems began during the registration exercise and continued through the nomination, vetting, and election stages, undermining the credibility of the process.
“The electoral process conducted within the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency has not been fair, transparent, credible, or inclusive,” Mr. Narkaah stated. “The integrity and legitimacy of the entire exercise have been seriously compromised.”
He alleged that numerous complaints and petitions submitted through the party’s internal structures were ignored by both constituency and regional leadership, leaving affected members frustrated and disillusioned.
Mr. Narkaah said the developments had fueled division, mistrust, and dissatisfaction among party faithful at a time when the NPP was seeking to strengthen its internal structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He stressed that the group’s demands were aimed at protecting the democratic principles of the party rather than undermining it.
“We believe genuine unity cannot be built on injustice, intimidation, exclusion, and manipulation,” he said, adding that the NPP’s reputation has always been rooted in respect for democratic values and due process.
The aggrieved members are calling for fresh and transparent elections across all affected polling stations in the constituency and are urging the national leadership of the party to intervene immediately to restore confidence in the electoral process.
They also appealed for equal treatment and protection for all party members regardless of factional affiliations, warning that failure to address the concerns could deepen divisions within the constituency.
