Wales goalkeeper Karl Darlow has described Ghana as a strong and well-organised side following their 1-1 draw in an international friendly at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The match served as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Ghana, while Wales used the fixture to maintain match fitness under coach Craig Bellamy.
Reflecting on the encounter, Darlow said Wales could take positives from their performance but acknowledged the emotional challenge of playing friendlies while missing out on World Cup qualification.
He noted that the team would have preferred to be preparing for the global tournament themselves, but still viewed the match as a useful test.
Darlow also reserved praise for Ghana, emphasising the quality and competitiveness of the Black Stars.
He described them as a “very good side” and highlighted their status as World Cup-bound opponents who provided a tough challenge throughout the game.
The result adds to Ghana’s ongoing preparations for the tournament, with the team continuing to test itself against international opposition ahead of the competition.
