Rosemond Obeng has pushed back against criticism over her decision to leave the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 general elections, insisting that her actions were guided by principle and not betrayal.
Speaking in a video originally shared by media outlet 1957, Obeng acknowledged that some people have described her as a “betrayer” and a “snitch” following her departure from the party, but maintained that those characterisations are unfair.
She said while she is saddened by the perception some people hold of her, she has no regrets about the decision she made.
“Do I have any regrets? If I’m sad about anything, it’s the fact that my actions were driven by good faith, yet some people see me as a betrayer, a snitch and many other things,” she stated.
“But that is far from the truth,” she added.
Obeng explained that she remains convinced she acted in what she believed was the right manner at the time, stressing that her decision was motivated by good intentions rather than any desire to undermine her former political party.
Despite the criticism she has faced, she maintained that she stands by her actions and does not regret taking the path she chose ahead of the 2024 elections.
