Ghana’s Oil Revenue Jumps 63% as Crude Lifts Increase in First Half of 2026

Ghana’s earnings from crude oil exports rose sharply in the first half of 2026, with the country recording US$355.5 million in revenue from five crude oil lifts.

The figure represents a 63 per cent increase compared with the US$218.6 million generated during the corresponding period in 2025, according to the latest report from the Bank of Ghana.

The increase was driven partly by a rise in the number of crude oil liftings. Ghana recorded five lifts between January and June 2026, compared with three during the same period the previous year.

The revenue came from the Jubilee 85th, 86th and 87th lifts, the SGN 19th lifting and the TEN 25th lifting.

The Jubilee Field accounted for the largest share of the country’s crude oil earnings during the period, contributing three of the five lifts.

The stronger oil revenue performance also translated into increased transfers to the Ghana Petroleum Funds.

According to the Bank of Ghana, a total of US$197.1 million was transferred to the funds during the first six months of 2026.

Of the amount, US$138 million was paid into the Ghana Stabilisation Fund, while US$59.1 million went to the Ghana Heritage Fund.

The allocation was significantly higher than the US$63.5 million transferred to the two funds during the same period in 2025.

The Bank of Ghana said the publication of the figures was intended to promote transparency and keep the public informed about the collection and management of Ghana’s petroleum revenues in accordance with the Petroleum Revenue Management Act.

The latest figures highlight the increased contribution of Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector to public finances during the first half of the year.
