IGP Police Men Strike Again: Demolish Former NDC Weija-Gbawe Constituency Chairman’s Property At Mahnet

A four-unit residential property belonging to former NDC Weija-Gbawe Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Musa Adams, has reportedly been demolished at Mahnet in the Greater Accra Region.

The property, situated on a 1.5-acre parcel of land and still under development, was reportedly pulled down on Friday, September 18, 2026, by a police-led team accompanied by an excavator.

According to reports, the team, said to include personnel from the Anti-Languard Unit of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, arrived at the property in the early hours of Friday and proceeded to demolish the four-unit residential structure.

The demolition reportedly reduced the building to rubble, leaving the property extensively damaged.

Alhaji Habib Musa Adams, who claims ownership and says he has been in possession of the land since 2012, expressed shock over the exercise.

He questioned the basis for the demolition, particularly the failure of the team, according to him, to present any court order or other legal documentation authorising the exercise.

According to Alhaji Adams, he has previously faced legal challenges over the property and successfully defended his interests through the courts.

He said he therefore found it difficult to understand how personnel of the Police Property Fraud Unit could lead a demolition exercise without showing him the legal documents upon which the action was based.

The visibly distressed NDC loyalist also questioned the claim by some of the personnel that they were acting on “orders from above”.

He argued that if the police were acting pursuant to a lawful directive, the relevant documentation should have been made available to the affected property owner.

According to him he had already petitioned the police administration and other state actors over the matter and could not understand why the police will lead such an exercise.

Alhaji Adams further expressed concern about what he described as a growing practice in which individuals allegedly use their influence and connections to cause damage to private properties while claiming to be acting on instructions from unnamed authorities.

He appealed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Minister for the Interior to urgently intervene and investigate the circumstances surrounding the demolition.

He suspects that individuals known to the police or persons with influence may be behind the incident and called for a thorough investigation to establish who authorised the exercise and on what legal basis.

Meanwhile, attempts to obtain an official response from the Greater Accra Regional Police Command regarding the incident had not yielded results at the time of filing this report.

Authorities contacted by this reporter reportedly indicated that they were unaware of the demolition exercise.

The circumstances surrounding the demolition, including who authorised it and whether any court order or other legal instrument existed, therefore remain unclear.
