The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested a prime suspect linked to a violent robbery and murder case that shook the Pwalugu community in the Upper East Region.
The suspect, identified as Nuhu Mumuni, was apprehended on April 8, 2025, during a targeted operation by the Regional Operations team at his hideout in Mankarigu, Savannah Region.
Mumuni had been on the Upper East Regional Police Command’s wanted list following the brutal killing of Benjamin Apuri, a mobile money vendor, on March 3, 2025. The assailants reportedly fled with an undisclosed sum of money after the fatal shooting.
Confirming the arrest, Savannah Regional Police Commander COP Samuel Alfred Winful described it as a major breakthrough in the case. Authorities say Mumuni’s arrest is expected to aid in tracking down his accomplices who remain at large.
The suspect is currently in police custody in the Savannah Region and will be transferred to the Upper East Region to assist with ongoing investigations and face possible prosecution.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes and are calling on the public to support ongoing investigations by providing relevant information.
