The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the resumption of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), with Matchday 23 scheduled to take place from Friday, March 7, to Monday, March 10, 2025. However, the restart remains contingent on safety and security assurances, as inspections of match venues are currently being conducted by the GFA and the Ministry for Sports and Recreation.
Following recent disruptions, the GFA has prioritized matchday security improvements, introducing the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, a framework developed in collaboration with clubs and stakeholders. The comprehensive measures aim to ensure a safer environment for players, officials, and fans as football returns.
In addition to the league’s return, the GFA has scheduled fixtures for outstanding Matchdays 20, 21, and 22. These matches will take place as follows:
- Matchday 20: Tuesday, March 18 – Thursday, March 20
- Matchday 21: Tuesday, April 1 – Thursday, April 3
- Matchday 22: Tuesday, April 15 – Thursday, April 17
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will face Sekondi Eleven Wise in an outstanding MTN FA Cup match on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
The GFA has urged all relevant stakeholders, including the Ghana Police Service, to fully cooperate in ensuring tight security at match venues, as the league aims to provide an exciting and safe football experience for fans across the country.
With these proactive measures in place, the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League season is set to continue in an environment that prioritizes safety, fair play, and the passion of Ghanaian football.
