The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly has ushered in a new era of local governance with the election of Mr. Yahaya Dindiok as its Presiding Member, in a move that many believe could strengthen collaboration and drive development in the municipality.
A businessman and Assembly Member (AM) for the Dobidi Nkwanta Electoral Area, Mr. Dindiok secured a commanding 72.4 percent of the valid votes—32 out of 44—to defeat his only contender, Mr. Elijah Denyima of the Mem Electoral Area.
The election, held in Atebubu and overseen by the Electoral Commission, marks a key milestone for the Assembly, which has been seeking strong leadership to unify its members and push forward its development agenda.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Dindiok acknowledged the trust placed in him and emphasized the importance of unity among Assembly Members. “Let’s work together with purpose. We can only take this municipality forward if we cooperate and build consensus,” he said.
His call for teamwork resonated with attendees, as the new Presiding Member outlined his vision of inclusive leadership, improved service delivery, and greater community involvement in governance.
Observers say Mr. Dindiok’s election reflects the Assembly’s growing appetite for pragmatic leadership rooted in both local understanding and business acumen—qualities seen as essential for translating policy into visible change.
