The government-appointed Interim Management Committee overseeing Adamus Resources Limited has moved to rebuild relations with traditional authorities following the revocation of three of the mining company’s leases over alleged regulatory breaches.
Led by Chairman Nana Esemetiune, the committee paid a courtesy call on Awulae Blay IX and members of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council at Atuabo, saying it was important to seek the blessing of traditional leaders as custodians of the land before officially assuming control of operations.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources recently revoked Adamus Resources’ mining leases at Akango, Salman and Nkroful after investigations by the Minerals Commission allegedly found that parts of the company’s concession had been handed to a foreign firm for illegal mining activities. The traditional council pledged its support to the interim managers and urged them to operate transparently, while also performing rituals to begin reversing curses previously invoked against the company.
