The Amasaman High Court has declined to grant bail to Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, as she pursues an appeal against her 15-year prison sentence. The court emphasized the need for the defence to submit all relevant documents from the Circuit Court to support the appeal process.
Agradaa’s legal team has described her sentence as overly harsh and is challenging both the conviction and punishment handed down by the Accra Circuit Court earlier this month. Meanwhile, the State has opposed the bail request, underscoring the seriousness of the charges.
Convicted of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences, Agradaa’s trial, which began in October 2023, culminated in a significant jail term that has sparked considerable public interest and debate.
As the appeal moves forward, the legal battle continues to draw attention to issues surrounding fraudulent practices and the judicial response to such offenses.
