Agricwealth Ghana, a youth-focused agricultural organisation, has unveiled an ambitious plan to train and empower one million young people to engage in agribusiness over the next five years as part of efforts to tackle unemployment and boost sector growth.
Chief Executive Officer, Reverend Evans Kyere-Mensah, announced the initiative during an interview at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Ghana Youth Agriculture Summit held at the Sunyani Technical University.
He disclosed that the organisation has already supported over 20,000 young people to enter various segments of the agricultural value chain, stressing that agriculture remains a key solution to Ghana’s youth unemployment challenges.
Rev. Kyere-Mensah said Agricwealth Ghana is focused on equipping young people with practical skills, training, and access to opportunities that enable them to establish sustainable agribusiness ventures.
He urged greater investment in modern agriculture, noting that innovation and value addition are essential to making the sector more attractive to the youth.
The summit, held under the theme “Youth, Agribusiness and Economic Transformation,” brought together policymakers, industry players, educators, and development partners to explore ways of strengthening agribusiness as a driver of economic growth.
Organisers said the forum also aimed to reshape perceptions about agriculture, promote networking, and connect young agripreneurs with investors and industry stakeholders.
Rev. Kyere-Mensah added that Agricwealth Ghana is committed to bridging gaps within the agricultural ecosystem to improve productivity, livelihoods, and investor confidence in the sector.
