Business leaders and customer service professionals from across Africa are expected to converge in Accra in October to examine how workplace culture and employee attitudes could determine whether businesses fully benefit from investments in artificial intelligence.
The fifth edition of the International Customer Service Summit (ICUSS) is scheduled for October 2, 2026, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, where discussions will centre on the human factors behind successful customer experience in an increasingly automated business environment.
Organised by Customer Service Africa (CSA), the summit will officially open Customer Service Week Ghana and Africa 2026 under the theme, “Beyond Technology: Why Culture and Attitude Decide AI ROI.”
The organisers say the theme reflects a growing need for businesses to look beyond technology when evaluating the impact of AI on operations, particularly as companies across sectors increasingly adopt automated systems to interact with customers and improve service delivery.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Customer Service Africa, Madam Priscilla M. Wellington, said the summit would challenge business leaders to consider the role of people and organisational culture in determining the success of technological investments.
“This anniversary is not about celebrating our past, but about arming Africa’s leaders for the future,” she said.
“We have spent five years proving that culture dictates performance. In 2026, we are taking that proof to the boardroom, exploring how the human element of service is the only sustainable advantage in a rapidly automating world.”
Taking customer service to the boardroom
According to CSA, ICUSS has over the past five years developed into a platform where senior executives, policymakers and industry practitioners exchange ideas on improving customer experience and organisational performance.
The 2026 edition is expected to place customer experience more firmly within strategic business discussions, with organisations being encouraged to view service quality as a driver of customer retention, trust and long-term growth.
A Chief Executive Officers’ Perspectives Panel will form part of the programme, giving business leaders an opportunity to discuss how organisations can align technology, leadership and workplace culture to improve service outcomes.
The summit will also feature the Customer-Centric Leadership Recognition ceremony, which will honour individuals and institutions demonstrating leadership in customer-focused service delivery.
CSA said participants would receive practical insights, frameworks and networking opportunities aimed at helping organisations strengthen customer relationships and translate improved service into better business performance.
Human factor remains critical
While AI is rapidly changing how businesses engage customers, the organisers believe technology alone cannot guarantee positive customer experiences.
The summit will therefore explore how employee behaviour, leadership practices and organisational culture can influence the return businesses obtain from their investments in AI and other technologies.
Madam Wellington said the continued support of sponsors and partners demonstrated the increasing recognition of customer service as a strategic business priority rather than simply an operational function.
Sponsors and partners for the summit include iSERD, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, GUBa, Green Trek Tours, Afrimass, Repute-Burson, Soul Impact, Sazian Specialist Clinic and Ellaven Consult, among others.
“These organisations have demonstrated outstanding support for the Customer Service Summit,” she said.
“Their partnership reflects a strong understanding that excellent customer service is essential for building trust, loyalty and sustainable growth across every sector.”
The organisers expect the Accra summit to attract business executives, customer service professionals and policymakers from across Africa as participants examine emerging service trends, exchange best practices and develop strategies for building customer-first organisations in the age of AI.
This version puts the AI investment/ROI, customer retention, workplace culture and business growth at the centre of the story rather than simply reporting the event.
